New head for NASA

WASHINGTON: The U.S. Senate approved Michael Griffin as NASA chief, completing a swift confirmation process ahead of the space shuttle's scheduled return to flight in the next two months.

At his confirmation hearing, Mr. Griffin said his priority was getting the shuttle programme flying safely. He also said he would consider a plan to have astronauts repair the Hubble Space Telescope.
