Speaker's plea

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha Speaker, Somnath Chatterjee, has requested his party, CPI(M), not to include him in the Central Committee or even in the State Committee.

Ever since he assumed the post, Mr. Chatterjee has kept himself away from the party meetings even though he was an elected member of the Central Committee. During the recent 18th Congress, he stayed away and the place he vacated in the Central Committee went to another party member of the Lok Sabha.
