Chess
MYSORE: Girish A. Koushik (Mysore) and M. Priyadarshini from Bangalore with five and seven points from five and seven rounds respectively won the boys' and girls' U-9 chess titles in the State U-9 chess championship conducted by the Karnataka Chess Association here on Thursday. The winners and runner-up in both the section will represent Karnataka in the National championship to be held in Chennai in May 2005. The final placings: Boys: U-9: 1. Girish A Kashyap (Mys, 5 pts); 2. Karthik Subramanya (Mys, 4pts-14); 3. M. Vigram (5pts, 13); 4. Kaushik (4, 10); 5. Satvik (3). Girls: 1. M. Priyadarshini (B'lore, 7pts); 2. Nisha (Shimoga, 5.5 pts); 3. Deepika (Shimoga, 5.5 pts); 4.Pranathi Pai (4 pts); 5. Anusha (Shimoga, 3 pts).
