PONDICHERRY: President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has sanctioned a Rs. 50,000-grant for the Bhairavi Carnatic music circle here. The music circle's spokesman, V. Mahalingam said here on Thursday that the Circle had made an appeal to Mr. Kalam in October last to sanction assistance to enable the 23-year-old organisation to overcome financial constraints for conducting programmes. The Circle has been holding monthly music programmes by inviting leading artistes. The 125-year-old Societe Progressiste High School has been the venue for many of these programmes.
