Red, yellow and Sen

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: How does the Director-General of Police, Swaranjit Sen, react to reports about alleged attempt to bail out his wife, Anita Sen, from a child adoption case?

He said 20 days after Holi he continued to be smeared with `red and yellow' colours. He made no secret of his hatred for both the colours. He did not like red, identified with naxalites, for professional reasons and yellow because it could be read with yellow journalism.

Without going into the merits of the case, Mr. Sen described reports attributed to his wife as part of a smear campaign by newspapers. He merely said a case was registered against Shalini Misra, former Commissioner, Women and Child Welfare, and it was being investigated.

He also praised the Congress Government saying it was genuinely interested in looking into complaints of SCs and STs.

Meanwhile, the Gramya Resource Centre for Women, in a press release, demanded the removal of Mr. Sen from the post to ensure free and fair investigation.
