Freedom fighter passes away

KHAMMAM: Chirravuri Venkata Lakshmi (91), freedom fighter, died here on Thursday. She is survived by husband, Chirravuri Lakshmi Narsaiah, veretan communist leader who served the Khammam municipality as chairman for 35 years.

Venkata Lakshmi was imprisoned for eight months during the Telangana armed struggle. The CPI (M) central committee member, Thammineni Veerabhadram, and the party district committee secretary, T.S. Prasad condoled her death.
