Five killed in accident on ghat road

CUDDAPAH: Five persons, including two woman labourers, were killed and four others severely wounded when a jaggery-laden lorry overturned and rolled down the Guvvalacheruvu ghat road in Ramapuram mandal on Thursday morning.

Three stone-cutters -- Tirupati Gangulamma (50), Derangula Dorasanamma (40) and an unidentified 30-year-old man -- of Nallaguttapalle BC Colony in Ramapuram mandal died on the spot, according to the police.

The lorry driver, Ramesh of Chittoor and the cleaner, whose identity was yet to be established, also died instantly.
