Four killed in two road accidents in city

CHENNAI: : Two road accidents in the suburbs today left four people dead on the spot on Thursday evening.

In the first incident that occurred in front of the main gate of a Tiruvallur-based automobile factory, a family of four on a motorcycle was hit by a van.

The father, who was driving, his wife and their 10-year-old daughter died on the spot. Satish, a 12-year-old, survived with head injury and fracture in his leg. He was referred to the Government General Hospital where he is undergoing treatment. The family was returning after a visit to her parents' home around 4 p.m. when the accident occurred.

According to villagers near the accident site, the area was always been accident-prone.

Auto driver dies

In the other incident at Maduravoyal bypass road this evening, an auto rickshaw collided with a lorry.

The auto driver, Sambandam (46) died on the spot while his friends Dinesh and Sugumar were admitted to the Government General Hospital.
