HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has charged the Government with confining the party MLAs to their houses and booking cases against party leaders who have exposed the Government's failure to provide relief to farmers and poor. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the TDP MLAs -- P. Keshav, Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Babu Ramesh and D. Narendra Kumar -- took exception to the manner in which the Wardhannapet MLA, E. Dayakar Rao, and other TDP leaders were kept under house arrest when they tried to raise the problems of chilli farmers during the Chief Minister's visit to Warangal district on Wednesday. Mr. Keshav also flayed the Government for booking a case against the Gudivada MLA, K. Venkateswara Rao, who had come to attend the Praja Patham programme in Gudivada town and had nothing to do with the trouble there. He lashed out at the `vindictive actions' of the Government and termed unfortunate its intolerance towards criticism. Mr. Narendra Kumar found fault with the Government for its failure to bail out chilli farmers who were demanding remunerative price. Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu questioned the attitude of the Government in being reluctant to purchase chilli stocks but expressing its willingness to take over the mini-hydel power project being built by the Chief Minister's relative on the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme.
