BANGALORE: A 26-year-old woman, mother of two, was hacked to death in full public view in the Magadi Road police station limits on Thursday. The police said that around 9 a.m. a man attacked Manimekalai, a resident of Kempapura Agrahara, with a machete when she was walking on 10th Cross, Manjunathnagar. Manimekalai, who was hit on the head and face, died instantaneously. Manimekalai, a tailor, had joined a garment factory near Prasanna cinema 10 days ago. She was on her way to the factory when the incident occurred. Her husband, Babu, works in a steel factory. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), K.V. Sharathchandra, told The Hindu that the motive behind the murder is not known. The Magadi Road police have registered a case.
