NEW DELHI: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) inspector has been charged with passing "inappropriate" remarks against a middle-aged woman who had come along with her relatives to pay homage to B.R. Ambedkar on his 114th birth anniversary near Parliament House on Thursday. The incident occurred around 11-30 a.m. when the woman, accompanied by her daughter-in-law and other relatives, was walking down Parliament Street. According to her, a man in police uniform brushed past her daughter-in-law, at which she objected. This led to an altercation between her and the man, who later turned out to be a CRPF inspector, Rampal Yadav, posted with Parliament security. During the heated exchange, the woman alleged that Mr. Yadav abused her caste. The woman then lodged a complaint in this regard at Parliament Street police station. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case under the Scheduled Tribe/Scheduled Caste Act. The case was later transferred to the Vigilance Branch of the New Delhi. The inspector is yet to be arrested.
