NAGERCOIL: The great charity padayatra, which Balwant Singh Grewal alias Bobby (68) began five months ago from Amristar on November 16, 2005, culminated at Kanyakumari on April 13. He covered a distance of 4000 kilometres through nine States. Grewal embarked on this mission with the goal of raising one million pounds for AIDS and cancer research. He said the aim of the walk was to create an awareness of HIV/AIDS and cancer amongst the people. The money, which was raised during the walk, would fund the charity organisation, India Association in United Kingdom and other research organisations, which were trying to find preventive measures and cures for AIDS and cancer both in India and the United Kingdom. Grewal, an NRI, is the chairman of India Association. With the offering of a cup of juice by the Superintend of Police, Ramasubramani, Grewal culminated the padayatra.
