Letters to the Editor
This refers to the editorial "Another road to damnation" (April 15). But for K. Karunakaran, there would be no Congress in Kerala. It would have gone the West Bengal way, as A.K. Antony even now warns. When Indira Gandhi split the Congress the second time after her Chikmagalur win, Mr. Karunakaran was the only prominent Congress leader from Kerala to join her. He rebuilt the party almost single-handed. Even now, it does not seem to be a parting of ways forever. A debacle in 2006 may still see the Congress inviting Mr. Karunakaran and his family back to the fold.
