Letters to the Editor
The Kerala Cabinet's decision to observe the birthday of Adi Sankaracharya on May 13 as Philosophers' Day is praiseworthy. But the move will be more effective only if school textbooks are also suitably corrected. The existing textbooks contain untruths and half-truths on Sree Sankara. In these times when there is a dearth of role models, similar moves will help restore the glory of many of Kerala's past heroes such as Ezhuthachan, Chattambi Swamikal and Sree Narayana Guru. We hope the political conscience of Kerala will reflect on this.
