Letters to the Editor
The article "Higher education in India" (April 12) was thought provoking. With the advent of more private institutions, the cost of education has increased. The important criterion for getting an admission to many institutions is the family income of the student. The Government in the Centre and at the States should intervene to regulate such institutions.
P. Deepak Jain,
Students going abroad are fascinated by the lifestyle and not necessarily by the standard of education. They achieve their dream only because of the basic sound knowledge they acquire in India, which our education system offers. Agreed, the difference between the research facility offered in India and foreign countries is glaring. The complexities in getting aid drives many out. Notwithstanding all this, those who dare to dream here will make it happen. Others will not.
S. Srinivasan,
