PERAMBALUR: Tension prevailed at Variyankaval near Jayamkondam after a Tamizhar Viduthalai Iyakkam (TVI) activist was allegedly hacked to death inside a cinema theatre by a five-member gang on Thursday night. The gang members, armed with aruvals, barged into Kala Theatre when the show was on show to a full house. They spotted `Ilampuyal' K. Ilavarasan (19) of Ilaiyur Kandiyankollai and attacked him killing him on the spot. Many among the audience fled the scene. The police suspect previous enmity between Ilavarasan and another TVI activist, Kumar, the motive behind the murder. The duo and their associates were said to have involved in a clash recently. A manhunt had been launched to nab the suspects. Security was tightened in the region. The body was handed over to the family members on Friday after post-mortem examination.
