THRISSUR: The police have detained nine persons on charges of running illegal money-lending firms and collecting high amounts as interest. The Town Dy.SP Valsan told The Hindu here that the persons were detained following the raids conducted in different parts of the district by the police on such illegal money-lending firms, known as `blade companies,' and in the residences of their owners. Several incriminating documents and unaccounted amounts were seized during the raids conducted as part of the drive against the mafia allegedly being run by such firms.
