Binny workers slam anti-labour policies

TAMBARAM:
Representatives of the Binny Beach Engineering Workers Union have appealed to the Governor to save the families of over 600 workers of the company based at Meenambakkam.
In a memorandum submitted to the Governor recently, the workers said about Rs. 3 crores recovered from the workers' salaries towards their co-operative society was yet to be handed over to the society. Till 1995-96, the company, manufacturing engineering goods and machinery, made good profits as it received orders from large establishments, However, for the past eight years, there had been a systematic attempt by the management to close down the company, they alleged.
