CHENNAI: D. Pandian, a former Member of Parliament representing the erstwhile United Communist Party of India, has been elected State Secretary of the Communist Party of India . The election was held at the State Secretariat meeting here on Friday, in the presence of the CPI general secretary, A.B. Bardhan. Mr. Pandian takes over from R. Nallakannu, who has served four terms as State Secretary. A party release said C. Mahendran and T. Perinban were elected assistant secretaries of the State unit, along with a team of executive committee members.
