KOCHI: The Crime Branch Police have arrested five persons in connection with the burglary at Rose Jewellery, Kurumassery, Aluva, on March 19, 2004. The arrested have been identified as Jayaprakash, 36, of Kurumassery; Parameswaran, 32, of Aluva; Sasi, 38, of Vellamkaloor in Thrissur; Subramanian alias Subran, 42, of Thekkumkara in Thrissur and Hari, 32, of Kurumassery. Hari is accused in many cases registered inside the State as well as in Tamil Nadu. He was absconding when arrested from Kadavanthra by the police team led by K. Venugopal, detective inspector, under the guidance of Martin K. Mathew, SP, Ernakulam Crime Branch, and P.H. Ashraf, DySP. The rest of the team were arrested based on the leads given by the accused during interrogation. According to the police, Jayaprakash and Parameswaran contacted Hari, when he was at Viyoor Central Jail, and planned the burglary. Gold worth Rs. 53,000 was recovered from the accused. The accused were presented before the Judicial First Class Magistrate, Aluva, and remanded till April 28.
