THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The elephant, Gopalakrishnan, that was hit on its rump by a KSRTC bus at Karakkamandapom on the Kanyakumari-Thiruvananthapuram National Highway on Thursday night, is recovering well though it is still traumatised by the incident. The veterinarian of the Travancore Devaswom Board, A. Sasidhara Babu, who is treating the elephant told The Hindu today that it had not sustained any fractures. "It is in pain and we have given some pain-relievers and antibiotics. As there are blood clots in the urine, I plan to give some diuretics to increase urine flow. Otherwise, the animal is fine," he said. The mahout was able to get the elephant to walk to its owner's mill on Thursday night itself.
