COIMBATORE: : A three-member team of the Medical Council of India (MCR) inspected the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Friday to check whether it had all the facilities required for training medicos.

Led by the MCI inspector, M.C.R. Vyas, the team's task was specifically to check whether the facilities matched the additional 40 seats sanctioned last year for the MBBS course. The seats were increased from 110 to 150.

Hospital too

Accompanied by the CMCH Dean, T. P. Kalaniti, the team first inspected the hospital this morning and then the medical college.

The inspection would continue on Saturday.

The Dean said the additional seats were approved last year and the approval had to be renewed this year after inspection.

For this, the MCI had to verify whether all the facilities needed to match the additional intake, both in the hospital and the college, were available.

Dr. Vyas told presspersons that the two-day inspection would cover all aspects such as teaching, availability of equipment and the condition of the operation theatre in the hospital, hostel facility and classrooms in the college.
