VUDA warning

Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority has cautioned the public not to purchase plots in the layout being developed by one Bantu Nagaraju in a three-acre land in Survey No. 80/p of Vemulavalasa village in Anandapuram mandal, since it is an unauthorised layout and also not approved by VUDA.

B. Ed students' plea

Students pursuing B.Ed (2004-05) have appealed to the AP State Council of Higher Education to cancel the summer and Dasara holidays this year in view of the loss of academic year due to delay in EdCET-2004 counselling. A representative of the students, A. Ravi, said that the delay was forcing students to complete the one-year course in two years and depriving them of an opportunity to apply for DSC - 2005.

No holiday

The Custom House will be open on Monday. The Commissioner of Customs, S.C. Choudari, said that there would no holiday on account of Sri Rama Navami festival on that day.

Closure of abattoirs

The Municipal Corporation of Viskhapatnam has declared a holiday to slaughterhouses, meat, beef and chicken stalls in the city on Monday in connection with Sri Rama Navami festival.

Award for paint firm

The city-based Coromandel Paints and Chemicals Limited has been awarded the `Best turnaround/revival of sick industry small/medium scale' announced by FAPCCI for 2004. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, presented the award to the company's managing director, A.A. Rama Rao, in Hyderabad recently.

Blood bank service

The Rotary Blood Bank, a service project of the Rotary Club- Visakha Port City has been extending 24 hour-service from Ugadi day. Those in need of blood can contact the blood bank (Tel: 5534635 or 2506678).
