Nallacheruvu in Guntur.
GUNTUR: The plots allotted to the municipal workers on the land retrieved from Nallacheruvu remain neglected for the past decade. The Workers' Colony does not have either blacktop road or cement concrete road and the coming monsoon could mean difficult times ahead for the residents. "Water pipelines were laid recently after residents raised a hue and cry and temporarily gravel roads have been laid, which will get wiped away with the first rain as the pond was close by and seepage of water from underground was very high," pointed out Kirlapudi Tata Rao, residing there for the past five years. Eight borewells had been dug in the colony, which had given them some respite. The only colony in the division, which is fully developed, is the D. Sanjeev Nagar. Under the Janmabhoomi programme the residents of Nallacheruvu 8th lane had contributed Rs. 60,000 and a road laid spending Rs. 4 lakhs and all roads in Chenchu Colony were laid after 40 years.
