BANGALORE: Two businessmen from Hyderabad, who were travelling in a luxury sedan, were killed when it rammed a tree and an electricity pole near the UTI Bank on Indiranagar 100 Feet Road here in the early hours of Saturday. Three others, including a television artiste, who were travelling with them, were injured and were admitted to two hospitals. The police gave the names of the dead as Srikant (30), a relative of the former MP, Nageshwara Reddy, and Sharat Chandra (28), and those of the injured as Venkatesha Reddy (30), Shiva Prasad (33) and Jayapal Reddy (28), a cinema artiste, relatives of Mr. Nageshwara Reddy. They had arrived in the city on April 11 for the inauguration of a residential layout in Whitefield and were staying in a guesthouse in Indiranagar. The accident occurred around 1.30 a.m. when they were returning to the guesthouse after dinner at a restaurant on M.G. Road. Shiva Prasad, who was driving the car, lost control of the vehicle near the bank. Srikant, who was in the front seat, and Sharat, who was in the rear seat, were killed on the spot. Shiva Prasad and Venkatesha Reddy were admitted to Bowring Hospital and Jayapal Reddy to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences. The injured were out of danger, the police said.
