Salahuddin ready for talks

SRINAGAR: The chief of the Pakistan-based Jehad Council, Syed Salahuddin, has expressed his willingness to hold talks with Indian leaders provided these are "result-oriented, sincere and meaningful."

"We are not in favour of a dialogue which will be just for the sake of it," he told a private TV channel in an interview on Saturday. Mr. Salahuddin, who heads the Hizb, said: "We want a sincere dialogue process which will bear fruit at the end of the day." He said he was ready to return to Kashmir for the talks. "My return to Kashmir and holding talks with the authorities will entirely depend upon the way the Indian authorities respond." — UNI
