Morphine seized, two held at Kovilpatti

TUTICORIN:
The police arrested two persons from who they allegedly seized one kg of morphine at Kovilpatti on Friday night.
A judicial magistrate court on Saturday remanded Esai Selvam (35) of Kovilpatti and Sushil Kumar (42) of Rajasthan under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Sandeep Rai Rathore, Superintendent of Police, said a special team during a search at Kovilpatti found the two moving under suspicious circumstances in front of the Government Hospital and seized the morphine, in two 500-gm packets.
The banned substance had come from across the border to Rajasthan, before reaching Kovilpatti, Mr. Rathore said.
In another case, police arrested Kattaraj of S.M. Puram here and seized 1.1 kg of ganja on Friday evening. He was remanded to custody under the NDPS Act.
