Special Correspondent

SHIMOGA: C.R. Chandrasekhar, professor of National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bangalore, has said that old age becomes unbearable if people are not physically and mentally active.

He released Vishishta Gunagala Vridhyapya Vyadhigalu (Old age of peculiar symptoms), by C.G. Keshavmurthy. Reminding that it was the body and not the mind that ages, Dr. Chandrasekhar said that it is better if the elderly lead an independent life and avoiding depending on others.

The chairman of Manasa Educational Foundation for Mental Health, K.A. Ashok Pai, presided. K. Nagaraj Rao, professor of psychiatry of J.J.M. Medical College, Davanagere, and the president of the Indian Medical Association, Shimoga branch, R.B. Purushottam, were the chief guests. Dr. Keshavamurthy welcomed the gathering.
