NAGAPATTINAM: : The Collector, J. Radhakrishnan, on Sunday appealed to the fishermen to venture into the sea for fishing as before and improve their economic condition. He was addressing a function organised by the People's Development Association, a Madurai-based non-governmental organisation, to felicitate the fishermen of Vizhundamavadi near Velankanni, who ventured into the sea in 17 fibreglass boats Saturday evening and returned with their catches. The proceeds from the auction of the catch was divided among fishermen. Joe Velu, Director of PDA, said their organisation had provided as many as 11 new fibreglass boats, fishing nets to 17 persons and 10 outboard motors for boats to the Vizhundamavadi fishermen.
