NEW DELHI: Evoking nostalgia for the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, on Sunday handed over to him his birth certificate and a painting of the Haveli in old Delhi where the visiting leader had spent his early childhood. After their two-hour-long talks at Hyderabad House, Dr. Singh presented to Gen. Musharraf a large painting of the Neherwali Haveli in Chandhi Chowk, where the Pakistani President's family lived before it migrated across the border. Gen. Musharraf was also gifted three birth certificates his own and those of his elder brother and sister. The birth certificates were presented in brown leather folders. Gen. Musharraf and his siblings were born in Lala Girdharilal Maternity Hospital located at Kamala Market here. A touched Gen. Musharraf appreciated the gesture and in return presented to Dr. Singh an engraving enclosed in a wooden box. The New Delhi Municipal Council had scoured its old records and found three entries, of which two were of male children born on August 11, 1942 and July 22, 1945 who were identified as `son of Musharraf.' During his last visit to India, Gen. Musharraf had also visited his home where he had lived before it was sold by his grandfather in 1946. PTI
