`We (Mr. Deve Gowda and his sons) have been telling that we are prepared to face any inquiry in the matter. If the Government is genuinely interested to unravel the truth, let it order a probe.'
SHIMOGA: The Working President of the State unit of the State unit of the Janata Dal (Secular), H.D. Kumaraswamy, said here on Sunday that his party will not hesitate to withdraw from the coalition Government if the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, does not order an inquiry into the "land grab" cases without loss of time and expose the persons involved in them. Addressing presspersons, he said: "government property should remain with it and nothing should be done to alter it."
`Redeem pledge'
Mr. Kumaraswamy said his party does not like to come in the way of the functioning of the coalition Government. "In fact, our (Janata Dal-S) Ministers have been doing well. But we will not sit quiet if the Congress fails to redeem the pledge made to the people at the time of the elections," he said and added that his party will not hesitate to expose it. Referring to the reported remark by the KPCC President, B. Janardhana Poojary, that it would be the former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (S) President, H.D. Deve Gowda, and his sons who would have to go to the jail first if a CBI inquiry is ordered into the land-grab cases, Mr. Kumaraswamy said: "I doubt whether Mr. Poojary understands Kannada correctly. We (Mr. Deve Gowda and his sons) have been telling often that we are prepared to face any inquiry in the matter. If the Government is genuinely interested to unravel the truth behind the land-grab cases let it show its determination and order an inquiry." Taking strong exception to the criticism of his family by Mr. Poojary, he asked him not to interfere in his family affairs.
Appointments
Mr. Kumaraswamy criticised the delay in appointing chiefs for various corporations and boards. "There was no such delay in the past," he remarked.
