A rare personality

In the death of T.S. Santhanam, founder and chairman of Sundaram Finance, Chennai had lost a great businessman and a noble well-wisher of the employees of his organisation. At the inaugural function of a TVS group unit at Sriperumbudur, the former Chief Minister, M.G. Ramachandran, pointing to Santhanam, remarked: "We have seen and read about many persons donating small amounts and advertising the same. But here is one man sitting on the stage who has donated Rs.5 lakhs for the midday meal scheme and wanted to keep it unannounced." Santhanam was a rare personality.

T.S. Gopalakrishnan,
Chennai
