NEW DELHI: Officials of the Pakistan High Commission here turned down the militant-turned-separatist leader, Javed Ahmed Mir's request to meet the President, Pervez Musharraf on Sunday. Mir, who entered Pakistan House with other separatist leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, was stopped at the reception by the guards. While other separatist leaders, including the Hurriyat Conference chairman, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Yasin Malik and Abdul Ghani Bhat walked in for their scheduled meeting with Gen. Musharraf, Mir was asked to wait, Pakistan High Commission sources said. The former Deputy Commander of the JKLF militant outfit sent in his visiting card and was told within minutes that he could not attend the meeting as it had already begun. Once close to the Pakistani establishment for spearheading militancy in Jammu and Kashmir, Mir had to beat a hasty retreat and was out of the meeting venue within minutes of making the entry. Mir claimed that he had submitted a letter to Gen. Musharraf. Asked whether he shook hands with the Pakistan President, Mir did not reply. PTI
