LUCKNOW: A delegation of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee would meet the President, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, on April 19 and demand dismissal of the State Urban Development Minister, Mohd. Azam Khan, for his alleged objectionable utterances against the State Governor. The office-bearers and workers of UPCC's labour cell would also hand him over a memorandum, demanding the immediate dismissal of Mr.Khan from the UP Ministry, the party's State organisation secretary and labour cell convenor, Irshad Ali, said here on Sunday. "We had staged a demonstration in front of the Vidhan Sabha on April 9 last and submitted a memorandum addressed to the President demanding the minister to issue a public apology for his indecent remarks against the Governor, T. V. Rajeswar,'' Mr.Ali said. Since Mr.Khan has failed to apologise before the people of the State for his unparliamentary conduct, the party's labour cell has decided to directly approach the President and demand his dismissal. Mr.Ali alleged that the Minister, who considers the proposed Mohammad Ali Jauhar University at Rampur to be his ``personal property and pretends to be a messiah of Muslims had actually lost his mental balance''. ``His recent unbecoming behaviour with senior administrative officials in Rampur was a proof of his mental state,'' he alleged. Mr.Khan, a firebrand Samajwadi Party leader, has been at the receiving end of flak from various quarters after he reportedly criticised and ridiculed the Governor for not giving his assent to the controversial Mohammad Ali Jauhar Urdu-Persian University Bill.
