Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended on Tuesday in Madhavaram, Tondiarpet, Perumbakkam, Sowcarpet West, Nanganallur, S.K.Nagar, Chromepet, Ambattur, Korukkupet, Kaladipet, R.K.Nagar, G.P.Road, Flower Bazaar and Santhome between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance.

Health camp

About 360 persons were screened at the 245th Narayana Seva camp organised by Hindu Mission Hospital at M.G.R. Nagar near Selaiyur Camp Road on Sunday. A team of seven doctors treated the patients for several specialties, including eye, dental, skin and paediatrics. They referred 13 persons for cataract surgery and four for other surgeries.

Temple cleaned

Sixty volunteers of SMILE cleaned Komaleeswarar temple and Mannareeswarar temple at Pudupet and Pandurang Ashram at Vadapalani on Sunday.

Study centre

A Career and Competitive Examinations Study Centre was recently set up at Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Thandalam. Inaugurating the centre, V. Irai Anbu, IAS, appealed to the students to take up civil services examination to serve the downtrodden.

He underlined the importance of optional subjects, collection of resource materials and presentation in examinations. T. Surya Kumar, deputy director (Academics) also participated.

Shoes donated

Calibers and shoes worth Rs. 1.5 lakhs were donated by Rotary Club of K.K. Nagar to the polio affected students of Prabhavati Devi Jayaprakash Seva Kendra at Guduvancherry on Friday.

Workshop

The Department of Management Studies of Sri Sairam Engineering College conducted a national level workshop recently on personality development. Over 300 students and delegates from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Pondicherry participated in the workshop co-sponsored by The Hindu-Business Line. The workshop dealt with development of attitude, imparting leadership qualities and emotional intelligence.
