Water level

MADURAI: The level in the Periyar dam stood at 111.3 feet with an inflow of 130 cusecs and a discharge of 130 cusecs.

The Vaigai dam had water up to 31.69 feet with an inflow of 171 cusecs and a discharge of 41cusecs.

The combined Periyar credit stood at 1352 mcft.

`Patti manram'

A `patti manram' was organised on the Gandhi Museum premises last week to mark the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Dandi March, which took the British Empire by storm in 1930.

It was an opportunity for the locals to know about Mahatma Gandhi and the importance of the march.

The programme was jointly organised by Gandhi Museum and Prasar Baharati.

P.C. Ganesan of Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College, Sivakasi, Dhanalaksmi Natarajan of Senthamizh College, Madurai, M. Guruvammal of Gandhigram Rural Institute, Gandhigram, and Sahul Hameed of Wakf Board College, Madurai, and M. Ramachandran from Sivakasi spoke.

Earlier, Ilasai Sundaram, director, All India Radio, inaugurated the programme. S. Pandian, secretary, Gandhi Museum, presided and J. Chandrapaul, treasurer, welcomed the gathering.

Workshop on raising funds for healthcare

A workshop on hospital and healthcare fund-raising was organised by the Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre here today to help candidates learn how to raise funds from international agencies and global institutions.

An instructor in the field Mal Warwick from the America gave ideas on strategies and communication techniques and how non-governmental organisations could get funds from donor agencies.

The MMHRC founder chairman, N. Sethuraman, spoke on the need for crafting a fund-raising strategy.

Fifty delegates from various hospitals attended the workshop, according to a release.

EB grievance

The TNEB Superintending Engineer, Metro, will conduct a consumer grievance meeting at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Central Office for consumers of Subramaniapuram, Arapalayam, Ellis Nagar, Tamil Sangam, Mahalipatti, Mahal, Jhansi Rani Park, Tamukkam, Theppam, Munichalai, Arasamaram, Race Course, Sellur, Tagore Nagar, Arasaradi (North and South), Pasumalai, Anuppanadi, Avaniapuram, Perungudi, Chinthamani, Alwar Nagar, Tirupparankunram, TVS Nagar and Villapuram.

Consumers can air their grievances in person or through petitions to the Superintending Engineer, a Tamil Nadu Electricity Board release said.

Power shutdown

There will be no power supply on Monday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the following areas owing to shifting of electric lines in the power grid between Periyar Bus Stand and Ellis Nagar and construction work on the new bridge: T.B. Road, Periyar Bus Stand, Thideer Nagar, Ellis Nagar and Mehaboobpalayam. — Staff Reporter
