HYDERABAD: There was heavy rush at petrol bunks in the city after 11 p.m. on Sunday as panic buying set in on the eve of the Greater Hyderabad Petrol and Diesel Dealers' Association (GHPDDA) stir. The association had decided to close petrol pumps in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts from Sunday midnight to Monday midnight. The rush at petrol bunks was no more than normal during the day even as bunks, expecting long queues and brisk business, were disappointed. The strike didn't create panic during the day as not many people ventured out on Sunday and Monday was declared a holiday on account of Sri Ramanavami. "Moreover," the association general secretary, T.C. Goel, said "people were informed about the strike and they procured enough fuel on Saturday itself," he said. The strike is to register protest against differences on dealers' commission, among other issues, with the Government. The association is demanding 5 per cent dealer commission instead of existing 1.6 per cent on petrol and 1.2 per cent on diesel.
