BANGALORE: Two men robbed a businessman of Rs. 9,000 in cash, a mobile phone and his two-wheeler on 6th Cross of Hutchins Town in the Frazer Town police station limits on Sunday. The police said the men, who were riding a scooter, stopped Vimalkumar (29), a textile merchant, and accused him of teasing their sister. When he denied this, they took his mobile phone under the pretext of calling their sister to verify his version. They accused him of being a drug addict and took his cash of Rs. 9,000 under the pretext of searching his pockets for drugs. They claimed to be "decent" businessmen and asked him not to move from the place till they brought their sister to "verify" his claims. They promised to return his money, mobile phone and his vehicle if he was innocent. But they never returned.
House burgled
The house of a former bank employee was burgled in Hoskerehalli in Girinagar Police Station limits on Saturday night. The burglars took away Rs. 10,000 in cash and gold jewellery estimated at Rs. 10,000. The police said Alex Philips, former employee of Dhanalakshmi Bank, had locked his house and had gone to Cox Town around 7.30 p.m. When he returned around 11.30 p.m., he noticed the front door open. and the cash and jewellery missing. The police are investigating.
