Servant robs,

kills woman

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI: A Nepalese domestic help and his accomplices allegedly strangled the 60-year-old wife of a former communications engineer with Parliament and injured her daughter at their Preet Vihar residence in East Delhi before fleeing with cash and jewellery worth Rs. 5.5 lakhs on Saturday. The victims had employed the accused about a fortnight ago.

The incident occurred around midnight when Santosh Jain, her husband, D.D. Jain, and their daughter, Reena, were in the house, while their son, a doctor, was in his office at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital. It is alleged that their domestic help, Raju, opened the door and allowed his three accomplices in, after which they strangled Santosh to death. Reena offered resistance, at which she was also beaten up. While Mr. Jain was asleep, the culprits gathered the cash and jewellery kept in an almirah and vanished from the scene.

A case of murder-cum-robbery has been registered at Preet Vihar police station and further probe is on. The police said Mr. Jain is at present into property dealing business.

Arrested for

stealing batteries

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI: Four people have been arrested by the Crime Branch from Vasant Kunj in South-West Delhi on charges of stealing a truckload of terminal batteries worth Rs 15 lakhs. The stolen articles have been recovered.

The accused have been identified as Ikramuddin, Kamran, Hasan and Akhlaq. During interrogation, the accused disclosed that they worked for one Sahida, a resident of Mewat.

The police said there were 850 batteries of Panasonic company, which had been dispatched from Bangalore.

Stabbed by brother

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI: A 50-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his younger brother at Lajpat Nagar in South Delhi on Sunday. The accused has been arrested.

According to the police, Sanjeev allegedly killed his brother, Rajender, over a dispute. At the time, other family members were also present there.

Rajender was employed as a peon with a private company at Okhla and the elder of the five brothers. The accused worked as a signboard painter.

A case of murder has been registered at Lajpat Nagar police station and further probe is on.

Killed by truck

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI: A man was killed and two others injured when an over-speeding Tata-407 hit them at Mangolpuri in North-West Delhi on Sunday evening.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Kalu, while the injured were identified as Karam Pal and Rajender. A case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered and further investigations are on.
