VIZIANAGARAM: The MLA from Naguru Assembly constituency, Kolaka Lakshmana Murty of the CPI(M), the CPI(M) district unit secretary, M. Krishna Murty, and the State president of AIDWA, S. Punyavathi, were among the 11 persons arrested by the police on Monday afternoon at Parvathipuram, for the turn of events at Mettupaka, near Thotapalli project, on Saturday, according to the DSP in-charge, V. Narasinga Rao. They were arrested from the CPI(M) divisional secretary, Reddy Srirama Murty's house The police had also filed FIRs against 2,011 people involved in the stone-throwing incident, he added. The bandh called by the Left parties in Parvathipuram revenue division blaming the Government for the police firing evoked no response as the police had made preventive arrests since Sunday night. The police had made 24 preventive arrests. The Left parties, including the CPI(ML-New Democracy), CPI, and the Rythu Coolie Sangam took out a rally along with the project victims from market yard to Rural Development Officer's office in Parvathipuram and staged a dharna. The party State committee member, Chaudhary Tejeswara Rao, CPI(ML-New Democracy) secretary, Pola Eswara Rao, Rythu Coolie Sangam district secretary, D. Verma, and others participated in the dharna.
