CHENNAI: Big names in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and retail segments will assemble in Mumbai on April 21 for the Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) India Meet. The conference will discuss ways and means to speed up the movement of goods, physically and electronically, in the FMCG supply chain to benefit Indian consumers. Companies like Johnson & Johnson, FoodWorld, Big Bazaar, Hindustan Lever Limited, Reliance, Nestle, Pepsi Foods, ITC, and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Limited, besides the Retailers Association of India, are expected to take part in the meeting. According to a release from ECR, Hindustan Lever will share the findings of its `Dataflows Project'. AC Nielsen will present the findings of its `Out Of Stocks Study'. Malcolm Bowden, Sales Director, Global Exchange Services, U.K., will be addressing ECR India members on `Product data alignment/ synchronization: The Benefits to Retailers and Suppliers'. "Global Data Synchronisation (GDS) is an Internet-based initiative that enables companies to exchange accurate, up-to-date and standards-compliant supply chain information," the release quoted K. Radhakrishnan, Chairman, ECR India, as saying. ECR is an industry-led business improvement concept that was initiated and successfully adopted by global FMCG companies and retailers worldwide.
