KAKINADA: The Jaggampeta MLA, Thota Venkata Narasimham, was unanimously elected as DCC president. The PCC will have to ratify his election formally. The election was necessitated as the senior Congress leader and present DCC president Jakkampudi Rammohana Rao wanted to quit the post, as he is already the Minister for Roads and Buildings. As per the one man, one post policy, Jakkampudi requested the PCC to relieve him of the DCC charge long back, but the PCC had asked him to continue till the election. On Monday, the in-charge of district Congress affairs, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, held several rounds of talks with senior leaders like Mutta Gopalakrishna and Jakkampudi. Venkata Narasimham's name was proposed by Jakkampudi and supported by Mutta Gopalakrishna. The DCC meeting passed a resolution, electing Thota as its new president. T.V. Narasimham joined politics two years ago after the demise of his brother Thota Venkatachalam, senior Congress leader and MLA from Jaggampeta constituency. He was elected MLA in last year's Assembly election. Before joining politics, he was a Government employee.
