SRIKAKULAM: The Minister for Revenue and Relief, Dharmana Prasada Rao, has said to meet the requirements of the fast-changing industrial scenario and to ensure proper incentives to prospective entrepreneurs, the Government is formulating a new industrial policy. Inaugurating the 60-day `Agricultural-Industrial-Commercial Exhibition' at the municipal grounds here on Sunday night, the Minister pointed to the rapid industrialisation of some States and said Andhra Pradesh would give priority to the information technology sector, keeping in view the needs of people.

Mr. Prasada Rao said plans were afoot to set up a number of industrial units in Visakhapatnam in the coming five years. Major IT companies were showing keen interest in setting up their units in Visakhapatnam. A unit to manufacture cars would also come up, he said adding that the idea was to help the industrialisation of the north coastal district and the paddy-rich East and West Godavari districts and also ensure employment facilities to youth. Plans were also being drawn up to develop an industrial corridor between Srikakulam and Kakinada. The Minister promised to provide all facilities in Srikakulam district to ensure industrial development.
