NEW DELHI: : A Pakistani delegation led by its Minister of State for Railways, Ishaq Khan Khakwani, called on the Managing Director of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), E. Sreedharan, in the Capital on Monday for a first-hand exposure of the latest techniques used by the Metro to establish one of the most modern rail systems in South Asia. A detailed presentation highlighting the technical features of the signalling, electrical, telecommunication, rolling stock and civil engineering techniques used by the DMRC was made by Mr. Sreedharan. The Pakistani delegation later travelled on the elevated section of the Metro between Kashmere Gate and Inderlok and on the underground section between Vishwavidyalaya and Kashmere Gate. The delegation was shown the working of the Automatic Train Protection, Automatic Train Operation and the Automatic Fare Collection systems of the by the Director (RSE) of DMRC, Satish Kumar. The Chief Mechanical Engineer of Pakistan Railways, Mohammad Hiyat Malik, and the Secretary of the Karachi Circular Railway, Ijaz Hussain Khilji, were the other members of the delegation.
