HYDERABAD: There was a near total closure of petrol pumps in the State on Monday following a 24-hour strike call given by dealers. Of the 1,500 and odd petrol bunks in the State, only the companies-operated bunks numbering 237 all over the State and 15 in the city functioned. All the dealer-owned stations were closed but reports from districts suggested that some of them gradually opened towards the evening, said D.K. Patnaik, State-level coordinator of oil industry. Mr. Patnaik did not see any problem on Tuesday as the strike call was given only for 24 hours. The strike was called by the All-India Petrol Dealers' Federation demanding increase in their commission. In the twin cities, long queues were witnessed at companies-operated outlets at East Marredpally, Chilkalguda, Begumpet and Srinagar colony in the city. Some other stations at Nagole, Balanagar and Banjara Hills also did a brisk business.
