Drowns during idol immersion

HYDERABAD: Ram Reddy, a devotee of Lord Rama, was drowned in a pond during immersion of idols on the Sri Rama Navami day at Bahadurpalli on Tuesday.

An operator in a chemical factory, the 33-year-old man went to Saidaiah pond located in Dundigal police station area along with 10 friends, all residents of Suraram in Jeedimetla.

While four, including Reddy, who was carrying the statues of Rama and Sita, entered the pool, seven others stood on the bank. After walking a few metres, he Reddy slipped into the waters.
