CITU demands A-1 status for city

HYDERABAD:
The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has demanded A-1 status for Hyderabad. The CITU adopted a resolution to this effect at it State council meeting held at Sundarayya Vignan Kendra here on Monday. The council general secretary, S. Veerayya, in a release said that as per 2001 census, Hyderabad and Bangalore cities had been identified as A-1 cities. Central Government employees working in these cities should be given allowances on par with those in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Referring to the Central Government notification that only CCA would be paid to the new A-1 eligibility cities but not 30 per cent house rent allowance, he said the CITU meeting condemned the Government's attitude.
