ISLAMABAD: The high and mighty in the capital of Pakistan, the Secretariat of the President and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court not excluded, face the prospect of darkness in the next few days due to non-payment of power bills running into million of rupees. The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESC) has deemed it necessary to put out an advertisement in the media warning the defaulters to pay up their dues by April 20 or be prepared for disconnection from the next day. The list covers 40 organisations. Under the head of Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Capital Development Authority has been asked to pay up Rs. 7.78 millions. For Senate it is Rs. 3.56 millions, for the President's Secretariat Rs. 5.6 millions and Federal Government hospitals Rs. 18.46 millions. Others are the Ministry of Law, Rs. 1.45 millions; The Pakistan Secretariat, Rs. 23.17 million; the Federal police, Rs. 7.52 millions; the Cantonment Board, Rs. 58.29 millions; the GE Army Services Rawalpindi, Rs. 228.42 millions and the Joint Staff Headquarters, Rs. 2.04 millions. The advertisement said "Some Government and semi-Government bodies have not paid their bills despite repeated reminders and notices by IESCO. The electric supply to such organisations will be disconnected on April 21, 2005, if they don't pay their outstanding due by stipulated date to avoid disconnection."
