Malaria hits policemen in Jharkhand

RANCHI: Policemen in militant-infested areas of Jharkhand are unable to discharge their duties due to frail health. They are under constant attack of malaria that tells badly on the the functioning of the Health Department to provide protection against the disease.

At least three to five per cent of the constables deployed in militant-infested areas seek medical leave every month for treatment of malaria, according to the Commanding Officer of JAP-1, Arun Oraon. One policeman had died of malaria. He said anti-militant operations had been affected substantially due to the outbreak of the disease.
