Letters to the Editor
Unlike the failed outcome of the Agra summit four years ago, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's interaction with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh this time has been forward-looking. Whatever be the methods employed, peace should prevail.
A. Jainulabdeen,
The assertion by Gen. Musharraf and Dr. Singh that "they would not allow terrorism to impede the peace process" is heartening. The process needs to be carried forward at various levels until the two leaders meet again.
D.B.N. Murthy,
Dr. Singh has said unequivocally that the peace process is "now irreversible" (April 19). Any hawkish tendencies in the "opinion-moulding" circles on both sides should be curbed.
Kangayam R. Rangaswamy,
He came, he saw, he conquered. Gen. Musharraf's visit has been satisfactory, and one hopes it will herald peace and harmony between the two countries.
S.P. Sharma,
I think the recent forward-looking statements by Chinese and Indian leaders, India's progress as an economic power, and its increasing cooperation with the U.S. are behind Gen. Musharraf's change of heart.
Senthil Kumar,
At a press conference in New Delhi, President Musharraf correctly said that trade and commerce were now the primary issues of relevance. A strong South Asia can only become a reality if there is lasting peace between the two neighbours.
Prashant Solomon,
Our problems cannot be solved by guns, incursions and what have you but only by what Christ said: "Love God with all your heart and love your neighbour as yourself."
Fr. Joseph Puthenkalam,
